countries

Learning stage of the class: 5th grade
Size of the class: 35
Time: 40 minutes
Level of proficiency: Beginner
Lesson title: Countries and Nationalities
Equipment needed: board, board marker, worksheets, cardboards.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson students will be able to;
-Identify at least 6 countries (Turkey, China, Italy, Egypt, Britain, Germany, Spain, USA)
-Identify at least 6 nationalities (Turkish, Chinese, Egyptian, British, German, Spanish, American)
-Distinguish nationalities and countries.
-Ask questions about countries and nationalities.
STAGES OF LESSON:
1-Lead-in (introduction):
Teacher asks the students “do you remember what you have learned last week?” students answer the question and says we learn countries and nationalities.
2-Elicitation:
Teacher pastes the countries’ flag on board and write the names of countries.
3) Explanation:
Teacher pastes the some pictures on the board and she writes “where is she from?” “she is from turkey”. “What nationality is he? He is Turkish.” Teacher writes the  another countries and nationalities by asking students the same questions.

ACTIVITY 1
Teacher gives the students worksheet. In this worksheet teacher wants to students look and match the pictures. Students match the pictures and countries and say to the teacher.  Then teacher control the answer.
ACTIVITY 2
Teachers gives students another worksheet. In this worksheet, there is a reading text and activities that are connected with the text.
ACTIVITY 3
The teacher gives students headbands. The names of the countries are written on it. The students come to the board and make a dialog according to the names of the countries that is written on the headband.
CONTINGENCY PLAN
The teacher gives another worksheet to the students.
