Lesson Plan for Young Learners - Face Parts

Level of Proficiency: Pre-Beginner
Number of the students: 24
Time: 30-35 min.
Topic: Face Parts
Vocabulary: head, eye, nose, mouth, ear
Structure (Function):’ I have got… (2 eyes/ a nose)
Materials: Picture about face parts, face pictures for art-craft activities
Skills: Listening, Vocabulary, Speaking
Techniques: Teaching vocabulary through materials, song and game.
Aim of the lesson:
To make the students learn and comprehend five face parts by using the pictures of them and to enable the students practice listening skills through the song.

Objectives:
1-      By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify face parts  learned in the course.
2-      By the end of the lesson, students will be able to learn and use correct pronunciations of the face parts.
3-      By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practice the face parts and singular/plural forms of them.




LESSON PROCEDURE

Warm-up
The teacher greets the classroom (Good morning, How are you today?) and shows a classroom objects’ pictures and asks ‘Do you remember these objects? and repeats  their names with students by using pictures .
Pre-Activity
Target Intelligence Type: Verbal, Interpersonal, Visual
Time: 7-10’
The teacher shows some pictures about face parts and introduces them to the students. After that, teacher points her face parts and students try to say the right name of it.  After that one student comes near to the teacher and this time teacher points the student’s face parts and his/her friends try to say the right name of it again. It continues after the teacher makes sure that most of the students have learned face parts’ names. After that the teacher says showing ‘ I have got two eyes, a nose ,a mouth , two ear  and one head’ .

While Activity (Art-Craft)
Time: 15’
Target Intelligence Type: Bodily, Intrapersonal, Verbal Intelligence
The teacher says ’we will make puppets ‘by showing sample. The teacher shows the pictures and says’ Draw eyes, a nose, a mouth and color the ears. Then color the pictures with your crayons and cut it. ‘  using body language. The teacher shows the sticks and says ‘I will give you a stick and you will glue the pictures on it. ’ showing a sample which is prepared beforehand. Then teacher gives the students pictures randomly. While the students color their pictures, teacher goes around and asks ‘S/he has got two eyes …..  and etc. in order to make repetition.  If there is a need, she helps students for creating. And she also asks ’what color is it? ‘  to remind the colors.






Post Activity (Song)
Time: 10’
Target Intelligence Type: Verbal, Musical, Bodily, Interpersonal
Teacher sings a song using body movements (one little finger). The students just listen to her at first. Then they try to sing with their teacher showing their puppets. The song should be repeated at least three times .If the students

End of the lesson:
Teacher thanks to students and says ‘ Don’t forget the song ! We‘ ll sing it again and see you next week and good bye‘  smiling. Teacher ends the class with a positive note.
