Clothes

CLOTHES
Duration: 45
Grade of students: Kindergarten
Topic: Clothes
Materials: Flashcards of clothes, colorful pencils, scissors, and clothes pin, clothes line, washing machine
Aim: Students will learn names of clothes.
Objective: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify 5. (T-shirt, skirt, dress, socks, shoes)
PRESENTATION:
Teacher comes to the class and greets students and revises the previous weeks. He/she asks students vegetables, classroom objects and colours. For example; the teacher asks “What is this?” for revision of vegetables and colours by using an object or “What colour is this?” After the revision, the teacher shows clothes line and asks “what is this?”
              











The students answer in Turkish. Then, the teacher says that “we have a clothes line. I will hang the clothes” by showing flashcards of vegetables quickly. After that the teacher shows vegetables one by one and asks “what is this?” Students answer in Turkish, the teacher says the clothes in English, hangs them and wants students to repeat after him/her. All vegetables finish in this way and the teacher wants them to repeat three more times. Also, the teacher chooses students randomly and asks the name of clothes for each student many times.

VOCABULARY CHECK ACTIVITY
The teacher gives worksheets to students in this activity. He/she gets the children’s attention and tells them instruction a few times and the students try to circle the vegetables. In addition, the teacher helps them.

ACTIVITY 1: ART-CRAFT
Teacher says “Now, we will make colouring” and asks “Where are your colourful pencils?” by showing colourful pencils, then says that take your colourful pencils and sit down please. After students take their colourful pencils, he/she says “Now, listen to me carefully, I will give you these pictures, you will colour and cut them.” While the students are colouring, the teacher asks the students “what is this?” and “what colour is this?” After the students colour and cut, the teacher shows a washing machine and asks ‘What is this?’ and they say ‘çamaşır makinesiiiii’. Then the teacher says that ‘It is a washing machine’ and ‘now, we will wash the clothes’.

ACTIVITY 2: GAME
 The teacher says ‘It is a game time’. After that, she/he wants clothes one by one and the students stand up and For example; the teacher says “I want to your clothes.”, and the students who have skirt come and she/he asks’ What is this?’ and they says name of their clothes and then put them on the washing machine. They say “I’m washing, I’m washing….” After that, they take a cloth out of the washing machine. The teacher asks to them again ’what is this?’ They answer it and hang the clothes to clothes line with the clothes pin.
