Games and Hobbies

LESSON PLAN

Time: 40 minutes
Level of proficiency: Beginner
Lesson title: Games and Hobbies
Equipment needed: Slides, board, board marker, worksheets, a ball.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson students will be able to;
-Identify games and hobbies (Drawing picture, hide and seek, skipping rope,    checkers, origami, fishing, blind man’s buff, camping, sculpting, dodge ball,  chinese whispers, taking photograph.)

-Distinguish games and hobbies.
-Ask questions about games and hobbies.
STAGES OF LESSON:
1-Lead-in (introduction):
Teacher asks the students “Do you like playing game?” “Have you got any hobby?” After the students answer these questions, Teacher says “Today we are going to talk about games and hobbies.”
2-Elicitation:
Teacher opens the PowerPoint and she/he shows the names of the games and hobbies.


3) Explanation:
Teacher pastes the some pictures on the board and she/he writes “what is his favorite game?” then teacher answers this question “His favorite game is hide and seek”. Teacher writes “What her favorite hobby” and answers this question “Her favorite hobby is camping”.
ACTIVITY 1
Teacher gives the students worksheet. In this worksheet teacher asks the students to write games and hobbies according to the pictures. Students write the games and hobbies and say to the teacher.  Then teacher checks the answers.
ACTIVITY 2
Teacher gives students another worksheet. In this worksheet, there is a reading text and activities that are connected with the text.
ACTIVITY 3
The teacher makes to play a game. In this game, firstly a student throws a ball to her/his friend and asks “what is your favorite game and hobby”. After the student answers this question, he/she throws the ball to another friend and asks. The game continues in this way.
CONTINGENCY PLAN
The teacher repeats the vocabulary items that he/she has learnt at the beginning lesson.
