LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY: Beginner.

DURATION: 40 minute.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Pictures, Scissors, Stick, Worksheets.

Objectives;

At the end of the lesson,

1-) students will be able to recognize some new words; Princess, King, Queen, Monster, Dragon, Tower, Kidnap, Fiery Breath.

2-) The students will be familiar with the story of “The Princess and The Dragon.”

3-) Students will be able to recall the structures of simple past tense.

Aim: To make young learners familiar with the basic structure of simple past tense and teach them some new vocabulary.

Time: 20 Lesson Title : Wild animals Equipment Needed : Worksheets, animals’ masks, flash cards

Objectives/Goals : 1) By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify nine wild animals (bear, deer, lion, tiger, giraffe, elephant, snake, monkey, fox) 2) By the end of the lesson, students will be able to make simple suggestions by using ‘should’ and ‘should not’. LESSON PROCEDURES: Warm-Up: 2’ : Teacher asks whether students love animals. Thus, teacher tries to catch students’ attention. Teacher listen to answer and she understand what they know about the animal, which animals are known. Vocabulary: Teacher shows a slide on the smart board. Then, teacher sticks vocabulary cards on the board. Students come to the board and try to match wild animals’ picture and their names. While stage: Teacher shows should/shouldn’t sentences. Teacher writes some sentences on the board about wild animals. Structures of these sentences consist of should and shouldn’t. Activity 1: Teacher hands out a worksheet and wants the students to fill in the blanks with ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’. Assessment: At the end of the worksheet, teacher wants the students to write their own suggestions. Activity 2: Some students come to the board and they wear their animals’ masks other students close their eyes and open only one finger. Then students-animals walk around the class then they close only one finger. Everyone open eyes and start to guess which animal did close my finger?

Contingency:  Teacher plays a song that practice animals’ sounds.

Equipment needed: Slides, board, board marker, worksheets, cardboards.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson students will be able to;

-Identify at least 10 countries (England, France, Germany, Greece, Indıa, Italy, Japan, Russia, Turkey, Spain)

-Identify at least 10 nationalities (Turkish, English, French, German, Indıan, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish)

-Distinguish nationalities and countries.

-Ask questions about countries and nationalities.

STAGES OF LESSON:

1-Lead-in (introduction):

Teacher asks the students “where do we live in? What comes in your mind when I say countries? “  They answer the questions “Turkey” etc. and teacher says yes we live in Turkey and we are Turkish.

2-Elicitation:

Teacher opens the PowerPoint and she shows the names of the countries and asks your students “where are we from?” students answer the question. Then teacher asks same question about other countries.

3) Explanation:

Teacher pastes the some pictures on the board and she writes “where is she from?” “she is from turkey”. “What nationality is he? He is Turkish.” Teacher writes the  another countries and nationalities by asking students the same questions.

ACTIVITY 1

Teacher gives the students worksheet. In this worksheet teacher asks the students to match the nationalities with correct countries. Then teacher checks the answer.

ACTIVITY 2

Teacher gives students another worksheet. In this worksheet, there is a reading text and activities that are connected with the text.

ACTIVITY 3

The teacher gives students headbands. The names of the countries are written on it. The students come to the board and make a dialog according to the names of the countries that is written on the headband.

Teacher gives the students worksheet. In this worksheet teacher asks the students to write games and hobbies according to the pictures. Students write the games and hobbies and say to the teacher.  Then teacher checks the answers.

Teacher gives students another worksheet. In this worksheet, there is a reading text and activities that are connected with the text.

ACTIVITY 3

The teacher makes to play a game. In this game, firstly a student throws a ball to her/his friend and asks “what is your favorite game and hobby”. After the student answers this question, he/she throws the ball to another friend and asks. The game continues in this way.

CONTINGENCY PLAN

The teacher repeats the vocabulary items that he/she has learnt at the beginning lesson.

              Stages of the Lesson Plan

Warm up:5 minutes

Teacher comes to the class and greets with students. Teacher asks ‘’what did we learn last week? She collects the answers from the class. Then the teacher himself/herself answers this question by telling the names of the vegetables. Then students repeat all together. After teacher has a conversation with two or three students about the things are taught last week, she shows the classroom objects on the board and she asks ‘’what are these?’’ and students tells ‘’kalem,silgi…’’ in Turkish then teacher tells them in English.

Teaching Vocabulary: 10 minutes

Teacher starts to show the pictures of the classroom objects that she pasted beforehand. 

She asks “What is it?’’ then she tells one by one “It is…”, it goes on like this. Second time, the teacher tells the classroom objects again and the third time she tells and students repeat. In the fourth time she repeats the classroom objects with students by whispering, telling it quietly, and fast and slowly to make the learning fun and for practicing pronunciation. Then, she asks to the class by pointing the classroom objects one by one “What is it?” and students reply.

For vocabulary activity; The teacher calls a student to the board and tell the names of the classroom objects one by one and the students point the right objects .Then, teacher calls another student and it goes like this.

Art Craft: 10 minutes

Teacher says “We will do our own plate with classroom objects” she shows the plate make the meaning clear. “I will give you this paper then you will color, cut and paste it on the plate” She shows step by step with demonstration and she shows the finished version as well. She hangs the finished version on the board to be seen by the kids.

Game: 10 minutes

Teacher prepares hopscotch with pictures beforehand. She sticks it on the floor and gives instruction “you will come to the board, play hopscotch with this. Jump and tell the name of the classroom objects”. She calls the students one by one, the one who plays the hopscotch tells the name of the picture that he/she jumps on it. It goes on like this. She can use Turkish for giving instruction according the classroom atmosphere.

Song: 5 minutes

Teacher makes the class listen a song. After listening two times, she wants students to sing together. She uses visual illustration with the song to make the song more attractive.

Closure: Teacher asks “What we have learned today?” She collects the answers. She summarizes the course and she says good-bye to the class.
