Lesson Plan for Story Telling



AGE GROUP: 6th Grade.
LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY: Beginner.
DURATION: 40 minute.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Pictures, Scissors, Stick, Worksheets.

Objectives;
At the end of the lesson,
1-) students will be able to recognize some new words; Princess, King, Queen, Monster, Dragon, Tower, Kidnap, Fiery Breath.
2-) The students will be familiar with the story of “The Princess and The Dragon.”
3-) Students will be able to recall the structures of simple past tense.
Aim: To make young learners familiar with the basic structure of simple past tense and teach them some new vocabulary. 

Lesson Plan for Distinguishing /e/, and /æ/ sounds

LESSON PLAN
Student-teacher: Satılmış Orkun Or
Time: 20 minutes                 
Age: 11               
Grade: 5th           
Level: Beginner
Target Structure:  /e/, and /æ/ sounds
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson; students
-will be able to distinguish /e/, and /æ/ sounds.
-will be able to identify /e/, and /æ/ sounds.
-will be able to produce /e/, and /æ/ sounds.

Teaching the sounds (2 minutes)
Teacher shows the sounds by using a couple of words and then shows how to produce the sounds by showing and drawing the mouths shape on board.
  
Activity 1.Distinguishing sounds -Same or different- (5 minutes):
            Teacher tells two words each time and asks students to catch if it is same or different. Teacher uses various words which even don’t have a meaning.

Activity 2.Identifying sounds (7 minutes):
            Teacher writes sounds on to the board and draws a hand next to one of the sounds, then wants students to show that sound when he says that sounds. Teacher changes the sounds and practice again. Teacher also wants students to produce the sound after him by pointing. After a plenty of exercise teacher wants class to shut their eyes off and listen carefully and point and say the sounds.

Activity 3. Testing the teacher (6)
Teacher chooses a volunteer and explains that “we will play same or different game and you will be the teacher and I will be a student” then wants students to say two sounds and teacher says same-different, after that whole class say same-different with teacher. A few students can perform in this activity.

Contingency Plan. Multiple-choice sounds

Teacher gives a worksheet which contains multiple choice questions. Teacher says the word in each question and students try to identify the sounds and circle the correct word.

Aim of the Lesson : To teach students eight wild animals (crocodile, elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear,snake) in the target language by using visual and interpersonal learning styles.

    OBJECTIVES:

1.      By the end of the lesson , Students will be able to identify  eight wild animals (crocodile, elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear, snake) in the target language

2.       By the end of the lesson, students will be able to paraphrase eight wild animals(crocodile, elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear, snake) clearly.

3.      By the end of the lesson, students will be able to compare and conrast eight wild animals (crocodile, elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear, snake) without error in the target language.

Activity 1: Compare and Match

Objective:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to compare eight wild animals (crocodile, elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear, snake) without any error in the target language.

Activity:

Teacher gives students worksheets and asks them to read sentences related to qualities of the wild animals.Teacher wants students to match these sentences with the wild animals.

Assessment:

Teacher says correct answers and students check their answers.

Activity 2: Making puzzle

Objective:

By the end of the lesson , Students will be able to identify  eight wild animals (crocodile, elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear, snake) in the target language.

Activity :

Teacher brings two boxes to the class. There are 4 wild animals pictures each box.

Teacher  divides class into two groups. Then teacher puts the pictures of wild animals on      the board . Teacher hands out some pictures randomly from the box. Students will line up one after another. Each picture is a part of a wild animal. They have to complete at least 4 wild animals. Each student come to the board and paste the wild animal picture on the board. After all students paste the piece of animals to the board, the first group who has finished the puzzles are winners.



     Assessment:

     Teacher shows whole picture to the students and students check their pictures .



     3.Activity :Rolling cube

    

    Objective:

    By the end of the lesson, students will be able to paraphrase eight wild animals(crocodile,    

    elephant,tiger,lion,deer,giraffe,polar bear, snake) clearly .

     Activity:

     Teacher asks students to work in pairs.Teacher wants students to come to board as pairs                     

      in  order.Teacher wants a student to roll the cube on the table  and  tell the word                                                                

      what  comes up on the “top” with different words and phrases.After his\her pair knows                                     

     this  word , teacher wants to change their role.It continues until every pairs make this       

     activity.                                      



      Assessment

      Teacher shows the word on the top of the cube and asks students 'Is it true?' after pairs                                             

      guess the word.

     Teacher gives students a crossword puzzle worksheet.Teacher asks students to write wild          

     animals     according to  pictures.

Teaching Colors to the Young Learners

LESSON PLAN


Age level/ Grade of school:  4 years old / Preschool
Size of class:  12
Duration: 40
Topic:  Colors
Materials: Worksheets, colorful stars, colorful cardboards, paper plates, crepe papers
Vocabularies: Colors (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, Pink, Purple)
Language: What color is it? It is…
Objectives: At the end of the lesson,
Students will be able to understand the names for colors of things.
Students will be able name the colors of things.

INTRODUCTION

Warm up:  Teacher greets the students, and then teacher shows colorful stars and tell them ‘let’s make sky with colorful stars.’

Lead in: Teacher shows the stars in different colors one by one, say ‘red’, ‘yellow’….. And students repeat after the teacher.

Activity 1: Teacher gives to one star (in different color) to every student, when teacher says ‘red’, students which have red star, stand, jump and sit down. This activity goes on until all colors are told.

Activity 2:  Make a rainbow
Teacher hands out paper plates and colorful crepe papers to the students, students cut these crepe papers, and then they paste on the paper plates. Each student will have her/his own rainbow. When students paste on the crepe papers, teacher asks ‘what color is it?’ When students say the color, teacher says ‘Yes, it is….’


Activity 3: Teacher hangs the colorful cardboards on different places of the wall; teacher gives some commands like ‘Run to the pink, red…’ ‘Go to the blue by jumping’. Teacher expects from the students to know correct colors.

Conclusion:  Teacher shows colorful stars again, and expects from the students to say name of the colors. And the lesson is over.

Contingency plan: Coloring with numbers
Teacher hands out a worksheet which including coloring with numbers, students paint the picture according to the numbers. When students paint the picture, teacher asks ‘what color is it?’ When students say the color, teacher says ‘Yes, it is….’
